Roseville Launches Online Participatory Budgeting

Post

The City of Roseville has launched an innovative participatory budgeting program. EngageRoseville is seeking public input in a variety of ways including the online game like platform called Balancing Act.  The mobile friendly platform allows residents to interactively balance the city’s budget by sharing their priorities by increasing or decreasing individual program budgets. The city’s goal is to try to maintain financial stability, manage short-term and long-term liabilities while meeting the community’s needs.

Residents in Roseville can add their voice by using Balancing Act to suggest changes in the city’s budget by cutting, reducing, or increasing cost to make decisions on things that can affect their lives such as; local police, public works, fire, development services, parks and recreation, and public libraries.

In addition to Balancing Act, the City is utilizing a broad spectrum of engagement tools and activities including a Community Priorities Advisory Committee, the FlashVote survey platform, videos and podcasts from city staff leaders, and a section on the City’s website to help direct residents to all of these opportunities.
