Rancho Cordova and Folsom Join List of Area Cities Launching Bike Share Systems in 2018
The greater Sacramento region is poised to become a national leader in testing new approaches to bike share systems, with Rancho Cordova and Folsom recently advancing pilot projects for dockless bikeshare systems. They join the cities of Davis, West Sacramento and Sacramento who are also preparing a major launch of bikeshare in May.
Getting people out of their cars and using different
transportation options has been an issue that continues to the
challenge region. However, innovation through new technology and
public-private-partnerships are paving the way to make tackling
this issue a little easier. Davis, West Sacramento, and
Sacramento are partnering with a national bike share vendor named
JUMP and planning for the introduction of up to 900 electric
bikes (e-bikes) with a program that will start in late spring and
grow through the summer.
Rancho Cordova and Folsom, with the help of the 50 Corridor TMA,
will be partnering with LimeBike, a dockless bike share company,
to deploy a 200-bike pilot system. The LimeBike system will help
connect residents with jobs, services and to Sacramento Regional
Transit’s light rail stations along the Gold Line.
