Innovating to Address Homelessness
City of West Sacramento Works with Startup to Build Platform Addressing Homelessness

Post

The City of West Sacramento partnered with Startup in Residence (STIR) to co-develop Outreach Grid, a collaborative online platform for service providers, outreach workers, law enforcement, and city management to address homelessness.

Startup in Residence (STIR) connects government agencies with startups to develop technology products that address civic challenges. Veteran social service and outreach workers with the City of West Sacramento collaborated with STiR over 16 weeks to develop a solution to address homelessness.

The result of the partnership is Outreach Grid, which enables users across multiple agencies to map camps, manage clients, view and work collaboratively on open action items for camps and clients, and control the viewing and sharing of client information among agencies — all on one platform. Mobile phone ready and built with a user-centered design, Outreach Grid can be used in the field and in the office.

Innovative approaches such as Outreach Grid give cities and counties the ability to work and collaborate beyond borders.
