Food and Agriculture Cluster and Workforce Needs Assessment: Sacramento Capital Region
The region’s Next Economy project provides a playbook for carrying out joint economic development activities to help shift the economic trajectory of the Sacramento region. Next Economy identified six promising business clusters in the Sacramento region poised for continued job creation and growth opportunity, including the Food and Agriculture cluster.
The Food and Agriculture Cluster and Workforce Needs Assessment is a partnership of SACOG, Valley Vision, Los Rios Center of Excellence and Burris Service Group to refresh the original Next Economy cluster research on the Food and Agriculture cluster. By documenting industry trends, economic impact and workforce needs, the work showcases how this cluster can help support a diversified, robust and sustainable regional economy into the future.
SACOG’s Cluster Assessment document describes current economic indicators, recent trends and possible future conditions in the Food and Agriculture cluster. In the full Cluster and Workforce Needs Assessment report the project team then links these cluster economic indicators with a workforce, education and skills assessment.
