On September 15, 2016, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) acted to approve the 2017-20 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP), Amendment #1 to the 2016 Metropolitan Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (2016 MTP/SCS), and Air Quality Conformity Analysis.

Next, Caltrans will circulate for public review the Federal Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (FSTIP), the larger document that contains the MTIP. That review will begin October 10 and close October 31, 2016.

Final federal approval is anticipated December 16, 2016.

The MTIP is the short-range federal transportation program for the SACOG region, which includes the counties of Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba, and portions of El Dorado and Placer County. The 2016 MTP/SCS is the long-range transportation plan for the SACOG region. The Air Quality Conformity Analysis is a determination on both the MTIP and MTP/SCS.
