Four years of bike route data across six counties
From 2014 to 2018, people riding bikes in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties used CycleSac to provide better information about what biking is like in our region. This information was shared with planners to support more informed decisions around infrastructure investments to meet demands and help keep riders safe.
CycleSac was a mobile app that collected crowdsourced information about the desirability of bicycle routes to identify existing cyclist travel patterns and document current constraints, issues, and opportunities in the area. It provided a snapshot of biking in the region as one of several efforts to better understand bicycle transportation.
To see what routes CycleSac users biked and how comfortable they felt biking on those routes, check out the CycleSac profile on the SACOG Open Data Portal.
