Community Collaborative Addressing Health Inequities in Roseville
The Invest Health initiative focuses on benefits of the built environment
April 25, 2023: The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) has been on an intentional pursuit to build a region where a person’s race and ethnicity are no longer a predictor of health or economic outcomes. As part of this journey to build a more equitable community, the SACOG Board of Directors learned more about the Invest Health Initiative. The initiative is a partnership between the City of Roseville and the Health Education Council, which is focused on improving the quality of life and community well-being in Downtown Roseville’s core neighborhoods, according to the Health Education Council’s website.
During the SACOG board meeting on April 20 at the Boys and Girls Club of Roseville, board members, SACOG staff, and community members gathered to hear more about the initiative and how government and community-based organizations can work together to build programs that the community needs and members value.
Watch the video below and learn how the Invest Health Initiative was developed, and the lessons learned by Placer County Supervisor and SACOG board member Bonnie Gore with special guest Pastor Mahsea Evans, First United Methodist Church in Roseville.
