Class IV Bikeways
FAQs available
The Protected Bikeways Act of 2014 (Assembly Bill 1193 – Ting, Chapter 495) established Class IV Bikeways, also referred to as separated bikeways or cycle tracks, for California and required Caltrans to develop Design Information Bulletin (DIB) 89.
SACOG and Caltrans partnered to offer trainings on Class IV Bikeways for engineers and planners who are responsible for roadway design and accommodating the needs of many different roadway users; trainings were held October 18, November 1, and November 2. Staff compiled a list of questions and answers from the three sessions for easy reference.
