The Youth Leadership Academy is now recruiting for the fifth cohort! September 15 through November 4, 9th - 12th grade high school students are able apply for the program. There will be 40 spots for students from across the six-county Sacramento region. 

Who can apply:

• 9th – 12 grade high school students
• Must live and attend school in the counties of El Dorado*, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba. 
  *The Tahoe basin is excluded

When is the program?

• Five month program from January through May 2023 (Saturdays)
• First session is Saturday, January 21, 2023 (planned for in person)
• After January 21, students will meet every other Saturday
• Hybrid program with virtual sessions (5) and in person sessions (5)
• Graduation scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023

What will we do in the program?

• Learn how communities are shaped by people and policies  
• Discover career opportunities in planning, civic engagement, and public service 
• Connect with local leaders, elected officials, community activists, and more  
• Engage in local and regional government 
• Connect with students from across the region and join over 150 YLA alumni
