The SACOG Board of Directors serves as the Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) for Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties. California’s State Aeronautics Act (Public Utilities Code sections 21670 et seq.), identifies the role and responsibilities of ALUCs in land use planning. The Act is intended to ensure that proposed land uses in areas around public-use airports are compatible with continued airport operations.

One of the ALUC’s primary functions is to develop and adopt an Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (ALUCP) for each public-use airport within its jurisdiction. The ALUCP includes land use policies focused on four compatibility factors: safety, noise, airspace, and overflight. The most recent action was the adoption of the ALUCP for Mather Airport in August 2022 – please refer to the information as described on our Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan page.
