The SACOG Planners Committee will be hosting a special workshop entitled “Planning Grants: Tips for Strategy Development, Writing and Data Research” on Thursday, January 23, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at SACOG (1415 L Street, Suite 300, Sacramento). The workshop will focus on how to structure your planning-related grant applications to address what grant programs are really looking for, techniques for writing your grant proposal and producing graphics that best tell your story, and how and where to find related population, jobs, and housing data. The speakers are Tina Glover, Associate Research Analyst, SACOG, and three grant proposal writers/strategists who have successfully helped local agencies compete for grant funds: Todd Leon, R Street Development Manager, Capitol Area Development Agency; Aaron Laurel, Economic Development Manager, City of West Sacramento; and Matthew Gerken, Senior Associate, AECOM.

The workshop is open to anyone but requires an RSVP by noon on Wednesday, January 22 if you want to attend in person. Also, 1.5 AICP CM Credits are available for in-person participation. There is also a call-in option (no RSVP required) at 888-431-3598, Access Code: 1106995501.
