The last three years of CRP funding will be programmed in 2026 and will focus on Mobility Zone pilot projects and Regional Trail Network Implementation.

This funding program applies to public agencies in the counties of El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba.

  • In June 2024, CRP awarded $7,441,629 to eight projects across Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties.

CRP Application Information

As part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)/Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) signed into law in November 2021, the U.S. Department of Transportation established the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP). This program provides funding to states and MPOs for projects designed to reduce transportation-related carbon emissions from on-road highway sources.

The CRP supports efforts that reduce carbon

  • The 2024 regional funds positioned the region to better compete for ZEV implementation grants, advanced implementation of the regional trail network, and strategically implemented programs that will reduce carbon emissions.
  • The 2026 regional funds will focus on Mobility Zone pilot projects and Regional Trail Network Implementation.
