SACOG is proud to have partnered on the report by providing the data and analysis, using the agency’s new Regional Indicators Dashboard to detail the economic impact of the Hispanic/Latinx community. This landmark study highlights the economic progress, contributions, and opportunities of Hispanics in the Greater Sacramento Region, underscoring their role as a driving force in the region’s growth.

“This report tells a powerful story of both progress and possibility,” said Cathy Rodriguez Aguirre, president and CEO of SACHCC. “Hispanics are shaping the future of our workforce, our businesses, and our neighborhoods. But this is not just about Hispanic growth—when we invest in Hispanic communities, we strengthen prosperity for the entire Sacramento region.”

Twenty-three percent of the total Sacramento region population is Hispanic, and that percentage is expected to grow. Creating a vibrant and economically healthy region means working together across sectors to create new partnerships and use data-driven approaches to understand community needs.

“I am proud of all the great partners SACOG continues to collaborate with across the six-county region, including the Hispanic Chamber.  The data we prepared for the 2025 State of Hispanics report helps provide a picture of the region’s overall health. With SACOG’s new Regional Indicators Dashboard, we can better assess the effectiveness of our efforts as we implement our 2025 Blueprint,” said SACOG Board Chair Darren Suen.

The Hispanic Economic Report allows partners and leaders to see what policies and efforts are working and where to spend time and investment to make improvements. SACOG looks forward to continuing this work to create a prosperous region for all.

Key highlights from the report include:

  • The Hispanic community shows lower rates of unemployment (4.3 percent) when compared to non-Hispanic groups (4.7 percent) and a slightly higher participation rate in the labor force (70 percent as compared to 69 percent for non-Hispanics).
  • The report shows the home ownership gap is shrinking, with more owner-occupied units versus renter occupied (85,200 compared to 77,689, respectively).
  • The report also points to areas of improvement, including health and wellness, entrepreneurship, business opportunities, and educational attainment.

SACOG strives to be a convener and provide data and analysis to inform and address diverse issues that impact the health of the region, including economic mobility, transportation planning, funding assistance, and housing affordability. The draft 2025 Blueprint plan lays out a comprehensive approach to create a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient region that meets the needs of the growing population while continuing to serve existing residents.
