Sycamore Trail Overpass Now Open in West Sacramento
Post Date:06/26/2025
If you have driven on US 50 through West Sacramento recently, you may have noticed a new bridge welcoming visitors to the city. This is the brand-new Sycamore Trail overpass, connecting pedestrians and cyclists with communities on either side of the freeway.
“The freeway divided the north and the south sides of the city, forcing residents into their cars just to get from one neighborhood to another,” said City of West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero during the overpass ribbon cutting on May 29, 2025. “Now we have a safe, beautiful, and sustainable route that allows families, students, and cyclists to walk or bike across the city, connecting homes, schools, businesses, parks, and sport fields.”
The opening of the Sycamore Trail overpass represents years of hard work for the City of West Sacramento, and a commitment to providing more connections for residents. SACOG is honored to have collaborated with city leaders over the years, providing funding, strategic guidance, and technical assistance to bring this vital connection to the community.
