The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) board and community members in Yuba City got to experience what a mobility hub might look like in the region during a Mobility Hub Pop-Up event in downtown Yuba City on Thursday, June 20, 2024. SACOG staff have been working on guidelines to help increase awareness about mobility hubs and provide assistance to cities and counties to design hubs for their communities.
For more than a year, SACOG’s transportation team has been gathering feedback to inform the Regional Mobility Hub Framework and Design Guidance, expected to be finalized this fall.

SACOG staff provided attendees with the background of and vision for mobility hubs in the Sacramento region. |
Mobility hubs can provide community members with easy connections as they go from one mode to another, such as a bus ride to a bike share, to get to their destination. The vision is to provide safe and comfortable spaces that help people get to where they need to go with more options than just a personal vehicle.

SACOG board members had the opportunity to experience what a mobility hub could look like in the Sacramento region. SACOG board member and City of Rocklin Vice-Mayor Jill Gayaldo is pictured here showing off her envisioned mobility hub during an activity at the pop-up. |
During the pop-up experience, attendees got to design their own mobility hub, play games, try out scooter share and electric bikes, and learn more about the transit connections, experience, and energy that mobility hubs can help bring to neighborhoods.

Board members and attendees had the opportunity to test out bike and scooter share during the event. Mobility hubs would create convenient and seamless connections for users to catch a ride or pick up a bike share to help them reach their final destination.

“Mobility hubs provide a creative opportunity to activate spaces within our communities while also providing safe and convenient options for residents and visitors who take transit, bike share, or car share,” said Shon Harris, SACOG board member and Yuba City mayor. “I enjoyed experiencing what a mobility hub could look like in the heart of Yuba City and look forward to seeing its application across the region.”

Partners from the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA), Yuba-Sutter Transit, Blue Zones Project Yuba Sutter, scooter-share company, Bird, Creative Arts Center, Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture, and the City of Yuba City set up demonstrations to help attendees experience how bike and transit mobility connections could serve future mobility hubs. |
Thank you to the partners and attendees who joined SACOG to help bring the mobility hub experience to life. Stay tuned for more updates about the Regional Mobility Hub Framework and Design Guidance project.
