In June 2024, the SACOG Board of Directors approved $7.4 million in funding recommendations for eight projects across the region. These projects are designed to reduce transportation-related carbon emissions from on-road highway sources. The funding is part of the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) signed in 2021. The Carbon Reduction Program is a five-year program, and during this time SACOG expects to receive approximately $22 million, or roughly $4.2 to $4.5 million per year.
The awards and contingency list were selected by a working group who scored applications based on a set of criteria adopted by the SACOG Board of Directors.
