This
planning activity originated from the federal Job Access / Reverse Commute
Grant that was created under welfare reform legislation. The grant provide
competitive funding for planning and implementation of transit services
focused on the welfare to work population. SACOG staff works with transit
operators, human services agencies and Calworks programs in the greater
Sacramento region encompassing El Dorado (excluding the Tahoe Basin), Placer,
Sacramento, Sutter, Yuba and Yolo Counties. The Transit Coordinating Committee
(TCC) created the Regional Job Access Partnership consisting of these representatives.
The Partnership provides a forum in which transit operators and social service
agencies identify issues and barriers, and seek solutions to the transportation
needs of program participants and other low income populations.
