The Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit
Administration will award a coveted Transportation Planning Excellence Award to
the Sacramento Region Blueprint: Transportation/Land Use Study during a
ceremony in Park City, Utah on July 25. SACOG Deputy Executive Director Pete
Hathaway will be on hand to receive the honor on the agencys behalf.
The award selection process was very competitive, with over 200
submissions nationwide, according to FTA officials. The judges selected
Blueprint for honor for the following reasons:
- Blueprint focused on reaching a wide range of stakeholders, both at
the neighborhood level and the regional level, including low-income residents,
business representatives, and government officials to help develop a plan.
- In the process, Blueprint offered the community a range of options
and scenarios to consider.
- It demonstrates a way to use technology to make it easier for
residents to think about their community and they way they live and work.
- Blueprint integrates land use planning and transportation planning,
using stakeholder and public participation to reach the final outcome.
