Description: Otow Orchard & Fruit Stand has been growing persimmons since the early 1900s, but only recently has gained fame for its production of Hoshigaki, or hand-dried persimmons. In this traditional Japanese method, producers peel each persimmon by hand, hang the fruits in the sun and massage the fruit by hand 16 times over several weeks to ensure even drying.
