The Scribner family has been in California for five generations, beginning with George Washington Scribner in 1893. Mark and Lorraine Scribner own and operate Scribner Bend Winery. Scribner Bend Winery is located just south of the town of Freeport and minutes from downtown Sacramento along the Sacramento River.

In late 1990s, wine grapes became the focus of the Scribner operation. In 2007, the Scribners completed their barrel and crushing operations building, bringing the entire winemaking process onto their 25 acre farm. They also constructed a tasting facility in the original 1918 barn.

Since its completion, the winery has become an agritourism destination in the upper delta. Their wines are featured in stores across the region, and have generated additional revenue from their operations. The Scribners are lifelong residents of the Delta where they raised their family. Both are community leaders with a sense of history and a comprehensive understanding of local issues. Together, they have been active on local planning, agriculture, agritourism, and water policy projects.
