SACOG Information CenterThe Information Center has data covering El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba Counties and the cities within each county. This web site contains only a small portion of the data that are available at the Information Center. If you do not find what you need on the site, give us a call, (916) 321-9000, or send us a question at info@sacog.org. Custom reports are available if our prepackaged reports and summaries do not have exactly what you need. If we don't have the data you're looking for, we may be able to refer you to another resource, such as the California State Department of Finance, Demographic Research Unit's Data Source Handbook which has nearly 100 pages of sources of information across 40 topics from agriculture to vital statistics. Free Census WorkshopsThe Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is pleased to announce that they have hosted two FREE Census workshops in May. U.S. Census Bureau Partnership Data Services Specialist Barbara Ferry presented. Workshop #1 - "Using the American Community Survey"The "Using the American Community Survey (ACS)" workshop was held Wednesday May 11, 2011 in Sacramento CA. The Census American Community Survey (ACS) is an ongoing survey that provides data from a sample of the population every year. All ACS data are survey estimates and as such each number is reported with a margin of error (MOE). The ACS has replaced the decennial census long form for 2010. This means that data on characteristics such as income, educational attainment, citizenship status, language spoken, poverty, journey to work, vehicles available and many other characteristics will only be available through the ACS. Watch the video of this workshop from May 11, 2011. Powerpoint Presentations
Workshop #2 - "The NEW American Factfinder"The "NEW American Factfinder" workshop was held Thursday May 12, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, in the SACOG Board room located at 1415 L Street, Suite 300, Sacramento CA. The Census Bureau has completely re-designed their popular American Factfinder (AFF) webpage. AFF is the portal in which the vast majority of data users retrieve Census data and information. The first iteration of AFF, now called "Legacy" AFF is scheduled to be phased out by Fall 2010 and as the new website is significantly different then the earlier version this workshop may be quite helpful in figuring out how to access Census data. Watch the video of this workshop from May 12, 2011.
