| Sacramento, CA - Martin Tuttle,
executive director of the Sacramento Area Council of Governments
(SACOG), has announced that he will leave his position in December
to join New Faze Development, a local company known for developing
smart growth and infill projects in economically depressed communities
statewide.
Christopher Cabaldon, chairman of the SACOG Board of Directors,
praised Tuttle for the vision and leadership he has provided at
SACOG for nearly six years.
"We congratulate Marty and appreciate all he has done to launch
SACOG on a course where we are establishing a reputation as a leading
force in adopting smart growth policies,""Cabaldon said.
"Increasingly, the SACOG Board and area local governments recognize
that we are creating a model that other regions across the country
are now looking to replicate."
Tuttle will join New Faze Development as company vice president
in January 2005. He will be responsible for helping to devise a
strategic plan to guide the company's growth and will oversee approval
of its development projects.
"It has been a wonderful experience to be part of SACOG,"
Tuttle said. "To the credit of the SACOG Board of Directors
and staff, the agency is providing more value to the region's
cities and counties than ever before."
"I look forward to the transition from being an advocate for
innovative development to actually building it," he said.
Tuttle joined the Sacramento Area Council of Governments as executive
director in 1999. Under his stewardship, the agency has taken a
central role in defining and developing a collaborative approach
to regional land use and transportation planning in the fast-growing
Sacramento region -- most notably with its multiple award-winning
Sacramento Region Blueprint Project.
