WHO: Representatives from hybrid bus manufacturer ISE, and SACOG's Transit Coordinating Committee including representatives from the Sacramento Regional Transit District; Paratransit, Inc.; Folsom Stage Line; Yolo County Transportation District; Yuba-Sutter Transit; Roseville Transit; El Dorado Transit; South County Transit/Link; Unitrans; and Placer County Transit.
WHEN: Monday, July 18, 2005
8:00 a.m. - Bus Parked in front of SACOG
8:30 a.m. - Presentation of drive system showing all components
8:45 - 9:15 a.m. - Test drive reaching 65 mph on freeway
WHERE: Discussion on the bus.
WHY:

The region's transit operators periodically explore new bus technologies that reduce emissions and help the air quality in the Sacramento region's air basin. This vehicle is a 40-foot new model Flyer, with a low floor and ISE gasoline hybrid technology. The discussions will include alternative options of diesel hybrids, Clean Natural Gas (CNG) hybrids, and hydrogen hybrids. The low-floor design helps people in wheelchairs roll in the bus easily.

The transit operators and the manufacturer will have a candid discussion regarding the cost efficiency, available hybrid options, emission reduction, of the new Flyer model and other clean fuel alternatives ISE is working on.

The Sacramento region has entered a critical stage in poor air quality, as the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District issued the first "health advisory" in two years, cautioning citizens to stay indoors.
