Sacramento (April 26) - The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) and the City of Folsom invite the public to attend one of two workshops on May 3 at the Folsom Community Center located at 52 Natoma Street at 2 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.

Local residents have the opportunity to review and provide comments on draft bus service alternatives that will be included in the City of Folsom's Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) Update through 2010.

"The City of Folsom is planning significant changes to the Folsom Stage Line's commuter express and local fixed route bus service coinciding with light rail's arrival in Folsom this October," says Kent Gary, City of Folsom Transit Supervisor. "Our local service will be restructured to provide connecting service to the new Folsom light rail stations currently under construction at Folsom Blvd. and Iron Point Road, Folsom Blvd. and Glenn Drive and the west end of Sutter Street in Historic Folsom."

The workshop will address changes to Folsom bus services including:
  • Commuter service
  • Local service
  • Dial-a-ride
  • Fares

The draft SRTP will be available for public review and comment before it is submitted to the City council for approval in late-June.

Transportation to and from the workshops is available for senior and disabled residents. Folsom residents aged 55 or older, and those who are disabled and need transportation, may call Folsom's Dial-A-Ride at (916) 355-8347 before 2 p.m. on May 2 to request a ride for the following day's meeting.

For further information, visit the City of Folsom's Web site at www.folsom.ca.us or visit the SACOG Web site at www.sacog.org, or contact Anne Novotny at (916) 340-6215 or anovotny@sacog.org.

SACOG is the transportation planning and funding agency for the six-county Sacramento Region, which includes El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yuba and Yolo Counties.
